Speech & OT

SPEECH THERAPY

Speech therapy is available to any student whose medical/educational evaluation indicates there is a need. The role of the speech therapist is to assess speech, language and communication skills and difficulties and to provide intervention to support all aspects of speech and language. This includes attention, listening, ways in which a student understands and uses language and the sounds they can make. They work with students in individual and small group sessions. HOPE School speech therapists work with students within the classroom, and, if appropriate, in therapy rooms.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

HOPE School for Special Needs employs occupational therapists who work specifically with children showing developmental delays. The role of the Occupational Therapist is to develop a customized treatment program to help students improve their abilities to perform daily activities. OT sessions take place within the classrooms, the individual session room or in the Sensory Room.
